I'm mixing it up with this article, and sharing personal insight and information about something other than real estate and the housing market. Yep, let's talk about dogs, my other passion, and all the amazing things you can do with them in Snohomish County!
What can I say, dogs are pretty darn amazing! I’ve had many in my nearly 50 years. From big and small to mellow and ornery. But regardless of their size, look, or temperament, we love them like family - because they are part of the family.
We’re on constant guard for their best interest and safety. We make sure they’re healthy by exercising and regular vet visits. In turn, they make sure we get exercise and think about our health.
We love their companionship. They come with us on trips, camping, hikes, out to eat, and stores. Some of us even fly with Fido!
Dogs are amazing furry little beings. They give us so much, and don’t ask for anything in return. They are there for you through thick and thin with unconditional love and a calming presence. Some of the best “medicine” is simply petting, snuggling, and loving on a dog.
We love to pamper our pets, likely because they give us so much, both tangible and intangible. They are a loyal and unwavering presence, always at the ready for us.

Do Life with Your Dog
As you can probably tell, I’m a HUGE dog fan!
We recently lost our Golden Retriever, so that brings pause and forces you to realize the hole they leave when no longer by your side, along with everything they lovingly gave.
So while they’re with us during their way-too-short-of-a-lifespan, We try to provide them with as much as they give us - through care, snuggles, swims, fetch, regular vet exams, dog park romps, road trips, scenic walks with lots of great scents, and on, and on, and on…
So if you’re still reading this, I’m assuming you may be an avid dog person as well (or perhaps considering your first dog?).
Stick with me here - below you’ll find some great outings you can enjoy with your dog in amazing Snohomish County!
A Great Era to Be a Dog (and owner)!
I live and work in the beautiful Puget Sound area, just north of Seattle, where there are so many great things to do with dogs, indoors and out.
The following are places and spaces within Snohomish County (and a few beyond) that will welcome your furry sidekick with open arms so you can experience life together!
This is not an exhaustive list by any means, but rather the places I’ve experienced, or have heard about.
Please also understand that store policies, managers, and owners constantly change. A store or restaurant that is considered dog friendly one day, may not be the next. It’s always best to call ahead to confirm if a public place is dog friendly (and if any restrictions on dog sizes, breeds, etc).
Get There Safely!
Before we get started with the list of places to adventure with your pooch, safe and secure travel is so important. You want to be sure that Fido arrives at your destination safely, and is ready to adventure.
Always consider the weather in the unfortunate event your dog must remain in the car.
Here’s a brief summary of things to consider and have at the ready when driving with your fur-baby:
Securely fasten them (kennel or harness and seatbelt)
Keep a portable bowl and fresh water in your vehicle
Have dog poop bags at the ready
Do NOT keep your dog in the car.
Even warm days can be deadly for a dog left in a car. Not to mention it’s illegal in Washing State. Check out this article for more specifics on the dangers of temperatures, cars, and dogs. You’re also at risk of your furry buddy being stolen if leaving in the car with windows down.

Dog Friendly Shopping
When considering taking your dog into a store, restaurant, or any public area with people, and potentially other dogs, be sure YOU and YOUR dog are prepared.
You’ll want a well-behaved dog that’s under your control at all times (on a short leash). Also be sure they’re non-aggressive toward people and other dogs.
Potty Time! Do potties before setting out, or outdoors upon arrival. If they happen to make a mess in a store or public venue, clean it up or inform an employee.
If you have a Service Dog, they should be allowed everywhere to assist your needs. Learn more here from Washington State Human Rights Commission.
Hardware Stores
Some hardware stores have official policies that suggest “Service Dogs” only (such as Lowes and Home Depot). However, if your dog is leashed, non-aggressive, well behaved, and under your control, they may allow (contact the specific store you’re planning to visit first).
